Mississippi Kite dive-bombs on a bug in-flight

So, this is not a typical “people” post.

It’s May here in Louisiana and I have had the chance to photograph some cool wildlife this season. This evening, my wife and I were walking in our neighborhood and I saw a Mississippi Kite dive-bombing on a swallow. I ran and grabbed my camera and found the bird perched in a dead Pine tree. After photographing it for a little while, it dove again and I knew I captured the bird in flight. What I didn’t see until after I imported the photos on my computer was, to my amazement, the sequence below of the Kite catching a bug in its claws! (You have to look closely to see the bug.)

These birds are often found in neighborhoods and they will also dive-bomb on humans. Be careful out there!
